For the last few years I have been making formal abstract paintings based on the amazing, strange, ribbons of energy that are, the wave. I have lived by the ocean and surfed and observed waves for many years and I’m really taken by these strange forms. So these paintings and drawings are derived from the visual, mental, and physical imprints that are left on me after surfing or watching waves. Also I don’t wear my glasses when I surf so I paint waves as I feel them and sense them and blurrily see them, if that makes sense. That’s why they end up being abstracted for the most part.
